From Consultant to Entrepreneur: The Spark That Launched My Startup
My journey as an entrepreneur began in my previous career as a consultant. While it was rewarding, I faced two key challenges:
1. Limited financial impact: I felt the work I did didn’t translate to a significant financial impact, and I craved a more tangible effect.
2. Static data visualization: Excel spreadsheets, while useful, weren’t ideal for visualizing the impact of my work dynamically and engagingly.
These limitations fueled my interest in launching a startup. Joining a London startup during the COVID-19 pandemic further solidified this desire. After six months, I decided to fully pursue entrepreneurship and joined Demium, an incubator program.
Pre-Idea Stage at Demium:
- I was aware of Demium while still working as a consultant in Poland.
- Began with “pre-idea” and “pre-theme” sessions, allowing me to explore different possibilities.
- Demium matched me with other aspiring entrepreneurs.
- We participated in a weekend hackathon, working together to develop a potential business idea.
- Based on the pitch, Demium selected a few entrepreneurs for the six-month incubation program in Malaga.
Finding My Co-Founding Team:
- In Malaga, I met Pablo Crespo Moya, an environmental scientist specializing in water. Together, we started searching for a compelling problem to solve.
- Once we identified the necessary technical skills, Fernando Ferrer Perruca, our CTO, joined the team. We conducted interviews until finding the perfect co-founder.

This journey, from consultant to entrepreneur, was driven by a desire for greater impact and a commitment to building something innovative and meaningful. By joining Demium and collaborating with talented individuals, I found the support and guidance needed to launch my startup and turn my vision into reality.
Unveiling the Hidden Water Wisdom: Solving Irrigation Challenges in Agritech
As already mentioned, my entrepreneurial journey started with a passion for sustainability, leading me to explore various possibilities within the sector. During initial validation, I noticed a critical issue in agritech: information gaps and late adoption of technology.
Through in-depth interviews with over 150 producers, I consistently heard concerns about water management and the challenges posed by climate change. The unpredictability of weather and dwindling freshwater resources, with 70% of global freshwater used in agriculture, painted a stark picture.
The key problem is overwhelming information overload from diverse sources like sensors, stations, and various data providers. This information lacked integration and actionable insights.
That’s where our AgrowAnalytics smart irrigation platform comes in. We act as the bridge, integrating all relevant data and providing clear, actionable recommendations on where, when, and how much to irrigate. By simplifying complex information and offering data-driven guidance, we empower farmers to optimize water usage, improve yields, and achieve greater sustainability.
This is just the beginning of our story. We’re committed to continuously learning and evolving, staying at the forefront of agritech innovation to help farmers navigate the ever-changing landscape and build a more resilient future for agriculture.
From Farm to Future: Our Roadmap to Sustainable Water Management in Agriculture
Imagine a future where farmers and corporations work hand-in-hand to create a water-positive food system in Europe. This isn’t just a dream – it’s the driving force behind our exciting next steps at AgrowAnalytics:
1. Bridging the Gap: Strategic Partnerships for a Shared Success
We’re not just building software, we’re building bridges. Our mission is to connect producers and corporations through our innovative irrigation platform. This means:
- Empowering farmers: With our tools, they can optimize irrigation, boost efficiency, and increase yields, while reducing water waste.
Agrow Analytics has become a basic tool to schedule irrigation time and frequency for the next 7 days. Recommendations by irrigation sector arrive daily and are valuable information to optimize irrigation in our irregular terrain”
Pablo & Andrés Acuña – Tomatoes farmers – Sugal Chile
- Supporting corporations: We help them achieve sustainability goals and shrink their water footprint, aligning their values with responsible practices.
The Agrow Analytics tool allows us to plan the risks of our producers in advance and accurately. In addition, it helps us to monitor and meet our target water footprint”
Nicolás Juste – Production & Development Department – Anecoop S. Coop
Together, we create a win-win situation for all, ensuring a healthy food system and a thriving environment.
We’re not just talking about sustainability, we’re taking action. We’re actively promoting and facilitating water-positive projects that benefit both agriculture and the environment. Think of it as a ripple effect of positive change across the food chain!
3. Conquering Europe, One Drop at a Time
Our vision doesn’t stop at borders. We’re setting our sights on becoming a recognized leader in the European market, synonymous with responsible water management in agriculture.
4. Riding the Regulatory Wave: Compliance Meets Innovation
The new EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), coming into effect in 2024, requires almost 55,000 companies to report their water consumption. This isn’t just a challenge, it’s an opportunity! We’re perfectly positioned to help companies navigate these changes and stay compliant, offering valuable insights and cutting-edge solutions.

Simplifying Irrigation for Sustainable Agriculture
We’re developing a revolutionary tool that helps farmers make data-driven irrigation decisions for improved yields and sustainability. Here’s what we offer:
1. Integrated Data Platform:
- We combine diverse data sources like satellite imagery, weather stations, and agronomic information (crops, irrigation, soil, plants).
- This powerful combination allows us to process and analyze the data, providing farmers with clear and actionable insights.
2. Personalized Irrigation Recommendations:
- We offer weekly irrigation recommendations based on the specific needs of each field. These recommendations are provided in easy-to-understand formats, such as timing and water volume (m3) for the next seven days.
- This empowers farmers to make informed decisions, optimize water usage, and adapt their irrigation strategy as needed.
3. Water Footprint Tracking:
- Our platform allows farmers to track their water footprint for any crop, including details about both green water (rainwater) and blue water (irrigation water) usage.
- This transparency helps farmers understand their water impact and identify areas for improvement, promoting sustainable water management practices.
4. “One-Click” Green & Blue Water Footprint:
- With a single click, farmers can access the green and blue water footprint of any crop, like avocados. This instantaneous information is crucial for making informed decisions about water use and resource allocation.
Simplifying Irrigation, Scaling Impact: Our Business Model Explained
We operate as a Software as a Service (SaaS) company focused on revolutionizing irrigation practices for sustainable agriculture. Our business model consists of two key verticals:
1. Subscription-Based Irrigation Management (B2B):
- We offer a subscription service priced per hectare per season based on the volume of land under management.
- This model allows farmers to access our software and its benefits like data-driven irrigation recommendations, water footprint tracking, and yield optimization tools, at an affordable and scalable cost.
- Additionally, we offer setup fees for integrations with existing farm management software or hardware, providing seamless access to our platform.
2. Hydro Offsets (B2B2C):
- We facilitate information for hydro offsets, allowing companies and individuals to measure their hydro footprint and offset their water usage by supporting sustainable irrigation practices on farms using our platform.
- We enable companies and individuals to sell or purchase credits priced per cubic meter (m3) of water saved through optimized irrigation, contributing to environmental sustainability while fulfilling corporate social responsibility goals.
- This model creates a win-win situation: farmers benefit from additional revenue streams while companies and individuals achieve their sustainability objectives.
Global Reach and Adaptability:
- Our platform is designed for global use, catering to farmers and businesses across different regions and climatic conditions.
- We offer flexible pricing options and adapt our services to local market needs and regulations, ensuring accessibility and impact.

Our biggest challenge?
Shifting gears! We’re expanding from one B2B SaaS model to two distinct markets, each with unique needs. We need to streamline our go-to-market strategy to efficiently serve both producers and our new market (specify) without compromising impact. It’s like navigating a multi-road map – exciting but demanding clear directions and resource allocation. We’re tackling it head-on with targeted messaging, strategic partnerships, and agile adaptation.
Always Striving, Always Growing: Reflecting on Our Progress
While we’re always driven to achieve more, we’re incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made. Our amazing team has been with us from the start, and we see their dedication reflected in the impact and value we’re adding. There’s a constant push forward, an internal motivator that fuels our journey.
This doesn’t mean we’re complacent. The desire to go further, to make even greater strides, is what keeps us moving forward. It’s this healthy dissatisfaction that propels us to innovate, refine, and ultimately achieve our goals.
We’re confident in our direction, but we also know continuous improvement is key. By staying hungry and constantly learning, we can truly reach our full potential and serve our stakeholders even better.
Being water positive is the key formula for the water sustainability of the basins”
